Icelandic boatbuilder Trefjar has delivered a new Cleopatra 36 rigged for year-round longlining to owners in the north of Norway.
Ásta B is an 11-metre Cleopatra 36, delivered to Tromsø fishing company West Atlantic, owned by veteran longline fisherman Bjarni Sigurðsson. Ásta B is skippered by Sæmundur Hnappdal Magnússon, and the boat is the latest in a long series of Trefjar boats to carry the same name – which comes with a reputation for successful fishing.
Ásta B has a 650hp FPT C13 main engine driving a ZF V-drive reduction gear. The aft engine room also houses a 7,50kW Nanni genset and a Quick anti-rolling gyro system.
The deck is laid out with a hauling position on the starboard side and a Beitir longline hauler. The midships fishroom has capacity for fifteen 380-litre tubs.
The forward wheelhouse has a control position on the starboard side, equipped with mainly Furuno electronics and an Olex plotter, as well as an autopilot linked to the hydraulic side thruster. There is a well equipped galley and mess area on the port side, and accommodation below with three full-sized berths, toilet and shower.
Ásta B has been delivered to West Atlantic and has already begun fishing.
