The partially outfitted hull of new pelagic vessel Trønderbas has left the Norse Shipyard in Turkey and is on its way to Westcon for outfitting and completion.
This is the sixth vessel built at the Turkish yard for Westcon. The 71.80-metre, 15.60-metre breadth Salt-designed Trønderbas is set to replace its predecessor, which was built for Ivan Ulsund Rederi 25 years ago.
The new pelagic vessel is to be outfitted with a hybrid propulsion system that includes a 1243kWh battery.
The design is from Salt Ship Design. Norse Shipyard near Istanbul is part-owned by Westcon, and serves as their dedicated hull fabricator. Among other projects, Norse has also constructed the hull of the innovative Ecofive, being built for Bluewild.
The present Trønderbas is reported to be for sale.
