Three French trawlers sought shelter in the English port of Dartmouth yesterday, with two of them moored along the harbour’s South Embankment, but found themselves caught out by the tide.
Soon after midnight, emergency services were called to the scene where the two trawlers were listing badly as the receding tide had left them hanging on their mooring ropes. Devon Fire Service assisted five crew from one of the two trawlers while Dart RNLI’s lifeboat crew helped five crewmen from the second trawler.
Damage to the trawlers is yet to be assessed.
