FFAW/CAW President Earle McCurdy and Secretary-Treasurer David Decker will be in Moncton tomorrow to attend a meeting with Fisheries and Oceans Minister Gail Shea as well as provincial fisheries ministers from Atlantic Canada and other industry representatives.
The meeting is being held to discuss the current market crisis in the lobster fishery. Prices have fallen to a 25 year low, jeopardizing the livelihoods of thousands of fishing families throughout Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
Hundreds of lobster harvesters in Newfoundland and Labrador have started a four-day tie-up to protest prices which dropped to $3.00 a pound earlier this week.
The meeting is being held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Moncton from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m
