The anglers are fishing the region’s piers taking up to 50 a session. It is told that at evening the sea has been literally boiling with mackerel. Shad are also putting in a regular appearance again this year among the mackerel, the chances of catching are anything over 12-14oz is almost certainly a shad, and a protected species which has to be returned.
It is informed that the open shore is very poor for the time of year, although the conditions have not helped, only the odd angler has found a few fish with cod and Pollock to 3lb, and some small wrasse, which in better times most anglers would have put back. Fishermen are enjoying this opportunity. It is a good season for their earning and for recreational fishermen it is right time to be there.
Most of the people go on about catching sharks off the coastline, especially the shark that is here in more numbers than many would think Already three or four have been taken in the last few weeks, and one angler in particular Rupert Drury is leading the way on how to catch these sharks, having taken shark to 200lb already this year.
