At the 14th September, ANFACO will bring representatives of the global fishing industry to its headquarters to celebrate the 4th World Tuna Conference, “Vigo 2009”, under the slogan “For the sustainability of tuna”. The meeting will take place on the 14th and 15th of September 2009 and is included in the programme of events at the World Fishing Exhibition’09. The aim behind this event is to provide the leading global businesses in the field of industrial processing and canning of seafood, tuna fleets, tuna marketers, as well as its auxiliary industries a real meeting place in which to develop different forums for analysis and debate about the central issues that would draw concerns about a product as important as tuna.
Don Alberto Nuñez Feijóo, president of Xunta de Galica will be in charge of inaugurating the Conference, a ceremony which will also include the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero and Grimur Valdimarsson, Director of Products and Industries Division of FAO’s Fisheries. Representatives from tuna companies based in countries vital to the tuna industry such as Spain, Italy, France, Portugal, Belgium, Greece, England, Switzerland, Thailand, USA, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, Philippines, Malaysia, Seychelles, Mauritius, Ghana, India, Taiwan or Korea will participate in the conference, with the aim of gathering together in Vigo over those two days, all of the most relevant companies involved in the capture, production and marketing of canned tuna.
At the same time as the conference, there will be an Exhibition of Machinery and Auxiliary Enterprises where companies from the machinery industry will be present, as well as various suppliers, such as packaging manufacturers, suppliers of raw materials and other auxiliary services. During the World Fishing Exhibition which is being held in Vigo from the 16th to the 19th of September, ANFACO-CECOPESCA will display part of its Philatelic Exhibition on its stand to attract more visitors to this important exhibition of the global fishing industry.
