The MSC runs the world’s leading eco-labelling programme for sustainably caught seafood, and the Pacific Fishery Manager’s role will be to focus on potential certification candidates in the Western and Central Pacific ocean, especially fisheries for tunas.
Duncan Leadbitter, MSC’s Asia Pacific Regional Director says: “This is a significant investment by the MSC in one of the most important fishing areas in the world. Demand for MSC labelled tuna is at an all time high and we are investing in people to liaise and co-ordinate with the industry.”
Bill Holden states: “I am looking forward to joining the MSC. The organisation has established an impressive international reputation and I hope to build on that in the Western and Central Pacific ocean. I look forward to future assessments and certifications in the region – particularly fisheries for tuna”.
Mr Holden begins working for the MSC in the New Year and will eventually be based in the Sydney office.
