For the last eight years the city of Klaksvík has been the surrounding for the annual Fisherman’s day. The idea of the event is to gather the fishermen and their families and turn spotlight on the fishing industry that means so much to the Faroese community.
Again this year thousands of people gathered at the Fisherman’s day even though the weather was not the best. An interesting programme was put together by the organizers with exhibitions, lectures, concerts and many different competitions related to fishing industry as well as other things.
One of the competitions was a net mending competition, which Vónin organized. There were 21 competitors and the winner was Vónin’s newly appointed sales man and former skipper Róðin Biskopstø.
