The Admiralty Shipyard in St Petersburg, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, has signed contracts to build a fleet of six high-capacity factory trawlers for the Russian Fishery Company (RFC), the Far East-based fishing company that is Russia’s largest catcher.
Peter Husth and Svend-Erik Andersen have placed an order for a new 24m LOA by 7.60m trawler to be built at Strandby in the north of Denmark. It replaces an older vessel with a new one of the same length, but an extra two metres of beam.

Earlier this year six specialist companies in Iceland established a platform, Knarr Maritime, to provide options for new fishing vessels, combining decades of experience. The new venture, Knarr Russia, is aimed squarely at the Russian market for new fishing vessels by setting up a subsidiary company in co-operation with Russian partner Raduga.
