Zamakona Yards is to deliver a 4000 cubic metre capacity live fish carrier to Norwegian operator Trident Aqua Services.
The delivery date is set for 2028 and the 80.80-metre, 17.60-metre breadth vessel will have diesel-electric propulsion and engines with fuel flexibility, providing options to run on biodiesel. The vessel will be equipped with energy recovery systems and a large battery package to permit hybrid operation and is prepared for a substantial reverse osmosis system.
During the order process, Milship Shipping has actively supported Zamakona Yards and Trodent Aqua Services, which came into existence as a merger between established operators Intership, Aquaship and FSV Group that brings together a fleet of more than 60 vessels, including a number of newbuilds under construction, and with an overall workforce of more than a thousand across seven countries.
Trident’s capabilities extend to live fish vessels, service vessels, feed carriers and harvest vessels, making it the first to offer a fully integrated service portfolio across all vessel types required in the aquaculture industry.
The new wellboat will be built at Zamakona’s facilities in Bilbao, based on a design from Salt Ship Design, developed to maximise and prioritise fish welfare, fish handling and biosecurity.
‘Zamakona strengths its relationship with Trident Aqua Services and support the growth of our esteemed customer. The new contract for Trident is a great success for our company and allows keeping a strong order book for the next three years,’ said Zamakona chairman Pedro Garaygordobil.
