Iceland’s National Association of Small Boat Owners (NASBO) has elected a new chairman.
The outgoing chairman Halldór Ármannsson, who has been in the post since 2013, has stepped down and his replacement, voted in at the 32nd NASBO annual general meeting, is Axel Helgason.
Axel Helgason was recently presented with an award as Iceland’s small boat fishermen of the year, recognising his having largely built his own boat and its fishing gear by himself, and having been among the top inshore mackerel boats during the 2016 season, even though fishing single-handed.
