Considered Europe’s premier inshore fishing exhibition, Skipper Expo International Galway 2012 held on 24th and 25th Feb, lived up to all its expectations with satisfied customers, new contacts and excellent business being done over the two days of the event.
Over 100 exhibitors from many of the EU countries had the opportunity to present to visitors at the Galway Bay Hotel a broad range of products and services from all segments of the inshore fishing industry including safety, research and development. Over 4,500 visitors from the fish industry, retail and catering sectors made use of this annual opportunity for gathering information, networking and doing some serious business.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Simon Coveney, T.D spent several hours at Skipper Expo International Galway in the Galway Bay Hotel on the Saturday of the show where he met with exhibitors and fishermen from all around the coast. During his visit Minister Coveney said, “I am very impressed by the scale and expanse of this event which showcases a wide range of products and services for the fishing industry. While visiting the stands, I was able to meet and discuss with fishermen current issues and also get a good understanding of the latest developments and innovations in their industry”.
Sharon Boyle, Event Manager at Mara Media Ltd, said, “Having well and truly established itself over the last number of years, we have noticed a dramatic increase in the number and geographical spread of visitors to Skipper Expo International in Galway. The support from the industry continues to be very strong for this show and the number of visitors during the two day event once more exceeded expectations in what was a very busy weekend. Dates for next year’s show are 1st & 2nd March being held once more at the Galway Bay Hotel.”
