Royal Greenland is reported to have agreed the sale of one of its factory trawlers to Icelandic fishing company Thorbjörn, with the handover due to take place next spring.
Factory trawler Sisimiut was built at Mjellen & Karlsen in Norway in 1992 as Arnar for Icelandic company Skagstrendingur, which was subsequently absorbed into Fisk Seafood.
The is 66.80 metre LOA, 14 metre beam factory trawler was sold to Royal Greenland in 1996 and has operated for its Greenlandic owners since as Sisimiut.
Thorbjörn is expected to take delivery of Sisimiut in the first half of next year, joining the company’s existing factory trawlers Hrafn Sveinbjarnarson and Gnúpur and longliners Sturla, Hrafn and Valdimar.
The handover of Sisimiut will take place next year ahead of the delivery to Royal Greenland of two new 80 metre factory vessels currently under construction in Spain.
