The government of Scotland has recently released a press noted saying that it will soon launch a major push to get consumers to eat more seafood. It is certainly good news for the seafood industry and Scottish shellfish Marketing Group expressed its thanks for the measure.
Scottish government has unveiled its plans at the Fishing 2009 show in Glasgow and will include a number of initiatives including more promotional work by industry body Seafish, along with a new website and a range of other seafood promotions. Stephen Cameron, the managing director of SSMG, informed that Scottish Shellfish welcomes this new initiative aimed at boosting the consumption of seafood.
It is said that most of the consumers are still unsure about preparing seafood when in fact it is probably the easiest foodstuff of all to cook. Cameron said that they have long been promoting the fact that Scottish mussels and oysters are incredibly nutritious and tasty and we are sure this new campaign will help to underline that message. It is told that over the coming year Scottish Shellfish will be taking part in this new promotional campaign. Cameron said that they are confident that it will help in improving the diet of consumers and open their eyes to the vast array of quality Scottish seafood that is available.
