According to the press release the seminar on “Fishing Vessel’s Crews and Stability” would take place this month on 16 and it is within the scope of the World Fishing Exhibition in Vigo. It is informed that there will be seven lecturers from 4 countries to talk about how to tell and make fishermen aware on the importance of safety from the point of view of stability.
Miguel Nunez, Head of the technology and Technical Support Department, Spanish Maritime Administration, said that there will be discussion on fishing boats stability regulation management, under the light of surveys, maritime accidents and present international standards. More lights will be thrown on a computerised onboard stability guidance system for fishing vessel crews.
Barry Deakin, Senior Engineer Wolfson Unit MTIA, University of Southampton, would explain the development of very simple stability and loading guidance. He has specialised in model testing, both in towing tanks and wind tunnels, and in stability research, particularly for small vessels.
Besides, there will be other dignified personalities discussing their views and options regarding stability and development. Languages will be English and Spanish, with simultaneous translation services. There will be two round tables for the attendants to ask questions to lecturers. The seminar will be opened by the Galician Fishing Minister, Mrs. Rosa Quintana and closed by the AINE Chairman, Mr. José E. García.
