As per the official document no.1883/UBND-TH Bac Lieu’s People Committee has adjusted the seafood processing factories. The first group includes factories which have been build in accordance with legal regulations and planning. This group of factories is allowed to be in long-term operation. These factories are said to expand their production in such a manner that there should not be any adverse impacts on environment and local people’s living conditions.
According to the document the companies belonging to this group are Girimex, Baclieufis, Mihimex, Nigico, Nha Trang JSC, Quoc Lap JSC, Thien Phu Co., Ltd, Au Vung Co., Ltd, Phuong Anh Co., Ltd, Vimex, Viet Cuong Seafood, Seaprodex Bac Lieu, and F79.
In the second group the companies are those which have been built or are being built without meeting the stipulated procedures. They are permitted to operation for ten years more, but forced to conduct necessary environmental protection activities, and effectively treat wastewater and waste, etc. after three years of rigorous research Bac Lieu People’s Committee has come up with a report that these plants may be allowed to continue operating or moved to an industrial zone. Phu Gia Co., Ltd, Minh Bach Co., Ltd, Phuc Hau Co., Ltd, Bach Linh Co., Ltd, and Dinh Duy Private Co are in this group.
The third group consists of companies which want to establish new processing factories. They are asked to adhere to planning approved. Vo Van Dung, Chairman of Bac Lieu People’s Committee, said planning for local seafood processing plants aims to enhance administrative management role, and create favorable conditions for long term investments in seafood industry, the key economic sector of Bac Lieu province.
