According to Seafish the Seafood Fortnight aims to build on the success of Seafood Week as a popular fixture in the food and drink calendar, with all sectors of the industry getting involved. It said that the two week long event will encourage people from al walk of life to eat the recommended two portions of seafood a week, one of which should be rich in omega 3 oils.
The event will also focus on how simple it is to cook with as well as how delicious and nutritious it is. Chris Stevens, commercial manager at Seafish said the organization has carried out extensive industry research and the result was overwhelming showing desire to extend to a fortnight so that it would maximize the effect of promotional activities.
Stevens told that all sectors of the seafood industry are encourage to take part in the event and give their backing to the event to help make it a success and secure its future as an annual event in the food and drink calendar.
