Investigative journalism group Reykjavík Media, which was instrumental in uncovering the Panama Papers that names holders of offshore accounts around the world, including members of Iceland’s government, has stated that it expects to lift the lid on fishing industry links with offshore holdings.
Reykjavík Media has commented that it is now looking closely into links between the seafood business and secret offshore banking, claiming that companies and individuals linked to the Icelandic fishing industry are named in the Panama papers that revealed the customer list of Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. Reykjavík Media says that it plans to release those names shortly.
‘At Reykjavík Media we are looking for assistance from anyone with knowledge of offshore holdings held by companies and individuals linked to Icelandic fisheries,’ A Reykjavík Media spokesman said.
‘We want to encourage anyone with information on offshore holdings linked to Icelandic fisheries to bring this to Reykjavík Media.’
The organisation has several ways of receiving anonymous or secure information.
