Mike Mitchell, managing director of Fair Seas Limited, and Nathan de Rozarieux, managing director of Tegen Mor Fisheries Consultants Limited, have been appointed to the Seafish board and will serve three year terms. These are Ministerial appointments supported by the four fisheries administrations, who jointly sponsor Seafish.
Mike Mitchell will represent the processing sector and brings with him extensive experience of the seafood sector following 30 years in industry. Nathan de Rozarieux will represent the small scale fishing sector and will contribute the knowledge he has gained as both a practitioner and consultant.
‘After almost thirty-seven years continuous employment in the seafood industry, I am absolutely delighted to be appointed to the Seafish board. I know that I am joining a first-class team and I am looking forward to working more closely with them to ensure that the role of Seafish is fully understood and properly valued by the whole of the industry. I believe that Seafish plays a pivotal role for all parts of the UK seafood economy, across all of the devolved administrations, and that this is especially important, as we face into an era of unprecedented political change,’ Mike Mitchell said following his appointment.
‘This appointment has been a long-held ambition; it represents a wonderful personal and professional opportunity for me to contribute towards the long term sustainability and profitability of the amazing industry that has inspired and enthused me for so many years.’
‘I am delighted to have been appointed by the Fisheries Minister to the board of Seafish and am looking forward to working with the Seafish executive and board members in order to benefit fishing communities across the UK,’ Nathan de Rozarieux said.
‘This is an exciting time to be a part of Seafish as they embark on a new Corporate Plan 2018-2021 and I can’t wait to get started.’
In addition to the two new members, existing members Alison Austin OBE and Jonathan Shepherd have been re-appointed for a further term of three years.
