Norwegian coastal guard made false accusation of Vladimir Timofeev crew. The representative of three huge sea companies in Arkhangelsk demands that they should not remain unpunished. Russian MFA should interfere in the process and we expect at least public apologies, they told at press brief.
The incident happened on November 19 when Norwegian coastal guard accused Russian vessel “Vladimir Timofeev” for bumping a Norwegian fishing boat and escaping from the “crime locale” having rendered no assistance to drowning fishermen. The day after the collision, the visual inspection of Vladimir Tomofeev did not identify any no damages on the body of the vessel. Simultaneously, a Chinese vessel Yutai Ambitions was in the same waters; the photo of this vessel taken in Murmansk reveals fresh paint on the bow.
Sergey Yastrebtsev, deputy director of Northern Shipping Company (the owner of Vladimir Timofeev), said that Norway publicly disreputed them throughout the world and so an apology is require publicly. He added that failure to help the shipwrecked victims is a no-go for any seaman. The fishermen cannot still forgive the coastal guards of Norway for an incident happened in March 2009.
He informed that in that case, Russian vessel named Mechanik Tyulenev was arrested for an alleged collison with a Norwegian fishing boat. The crew was held at investigation for 10 days; no evidence attached, the Russian crew was set to free. No compensations or apoligies followed, says Yastrebtsev.
