The report says that the agreement on sea delimitation was signed in September 2010. Since that time, Murmansk fishermen have been arguing on the profits of the Agreement: whether it is a loss or gain for Russia. In order to avail the real gain Murmansk fishermen initiated a letter to federal authorities not to ratify the Agreement before it introduces specific support stipulations for the sake of Murmansk fishery industry.
Some fishermen says that sea delimitation may cut off our vessels from good fishing. They said that most profitable fishing areas are given to Norway. The decision of Murmansk fishermen is widely supported by other people. The deputies of Murmansk regional Duma supported the initiative of Murmansk fishermen saying this document is to consider the interests of Murmansk fishermen.
At the latest session the deputies withdrew their letter because of the wording which sounds tough. The deputies think that the text is a blow to Russia’s image. Now the decent text is under consideration.
