Peter Bodeker, CEO of the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council has written an open letter to Alex Asher about his admirable plan to run from Cape Reinga to Wellington to raise awareness and funds for marine sustainability. He said that he respects Alex’s efforts and was concerned by some of his comments about how balanced the knowledge and understanding is of New Zealand’s quota management system, and their seafood industry’s commitment to sustainability and the environment.
He has invited Alex to meet him to discuss any issues and concerns you may have. He is willing to meet with you anywhere, anytime on your journey toward Wellington. He reminded that the future of fisheries is important to all of us. Fishermen have a vested interest ensuring there is fish for the future.
