Riga Shipyard has completed the steelwork of a new trawler for Danish shipyard Vestværft. This is now being towed to Thyborøn for its final outfitting.
Stefanie, designed and built by Vestværft and the Riga Shipyard for a Danish customer, measures 32 metres overall with a beam of 9 metres. The Latvian yard’s part of the newbuild was to construct the steel hull, the aluminium wheelhouse and aft mast, and to fit the 35 tonnes of ballast.
The hull above the waterline and the processing area have been hot zinc sprayed and the hull has been fully painted.
Much of the trawler’s systems are already fitted before it leaves for Denmark, including the rudder, nozzle and propeller installation, the main engine installation and the exhaust system.
The trawl winches and net drums are in place, and the piping systems have been laid. The fishroom has its inner steel lining with a polyurethane thermal foam insulation layer behind it and the insulation has already been fitted in the new trawler’s accommodation areas.
