Knarr Russia floated in St Petersburg

Iceland’s Minister of Fisheries yesterday launched Knarr Russia. Earlier this year six specialist companies in Iceland established a platform, Knarr Maritime, to provide options for new fishing vessels, combining decades of experience. The new venture, Knarr Russia, is aimed squarely at the Russian market for new fishing vessels by setting up a subsidiary company in co-operation with Russian partner Raduga.

Reconfiguring Canadian Arctic surf clam fishery

Proposals from potential new entrants to Canada’s Arctic surf clam fishery have until 2nd November to submit expressions of interest as the a new fourth licence representing a quarter of the TAC is introduced. The whole fishery is currently in the hands of a single company, Clearwater, and this position now looks to be set to change.
