Bolette becomes Vera C

Danish trawler Bolette has changed hands and gone to Sweden where it will be fishing for langoustine off the Danish and Swedish coasts. Thorsminde owner John Christensen said that he had not planned to sell the boat right away, as it is a year until the new Pia Glanz will be delivered by Vestværftet, but he did not want to miss the opportunity when an offer came from Swedish company Gifico Fiskeri.

A small group of pelagic longline fishing vessel owners will take a six-month voluntary break, but will continue to fish with alternative gear, improving populations and supporting supply chains as NOAA and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation kicked off 2018 with the second round of the Oceanic Fish Restoration Project.

Dutch pulse fishermen are adamant that their fisheries have been portrayed in the worst possible light by NGOs – and have hit back at the flood of misinformation and fake news.
