Decisive step towards improving Mediterranean fisheries management

The establishment of a new multiannual management plan for demersal fisheries in the Western Mediterranean that affects the fleets, mainly trawlers, from Italy, France and Spain as the European Parliament Committee on Fisheries’ adopted its position on the European Commission proposal has been welcomed by fishing industry body Europêche.

Saupiquet orders tuna seiner from Piriou

French tuna company Saupiquet, part of the Bolton Group, has placed an order for a new 67 metre tuna purse seiner to be built at Piriou’s yard in Vietnam with a 2020 delivery date. The new vessel will become the latest addition to the series of eight 80-90 metre tuna vessels delivered by Piriou from both its Vietnam and Concarneau yards since 2010 for several tuna operators.

Cornelis Vrolijk invests in Nouadhibou processing plant

Last year the Cap Blanc Pélagique SARL has started to operate its fish processing plant and coldstore in the port of Nouadhibou, in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. This is a joint venture between Cornelis Vrolijk Holding BV and Société Mauritanienne d’Armement Pélagique SARL (SMAP), which has been CV’s local agent for over 20 years.
