The sixth trawler in what is expected will be a series of ten has been launched for Russian fishing company Norebo at the Northern Shipyard in St Petersburg.
The 81.60-metre, 16-metre breadth Kapitan Abakumov is built under the state investment quotas initiative and designed by Nautic Rus. Further outfitting now takes place at the Northern Shipyard’s dock.
These trawlers are designed for demersal and pelagic operation in the North Atlantic or Far East waters with factory decks capable of handling 150 tonnes or product per 24 hours, including a 100-tonne per day frozen fillets capacity, as well as canned cod liver and fishmeal production.
Kapitan Abakumov and its sister vessels have 6200kW main engines and are outfitted with accommodation for crews of up to 80 persons.
