ISFNF 2008 is held every second year, and draw scientists from all over the world. During the four day conference, from Monday 2nd to Thursday 5th of June, several scientific results within the field of aquaculture nutrition will be presented for the first time in Brazil, Florianópolis. Among the topics addressed are effects of various feed ingredients on different aquaculture species.
NIFES presents the latest news
From NIFES researchers will present their result through 8 presentations and 2 posters. These include Kristin Hamre, a researcher at the Aquaculture Nutrition Research Programme at the National Institute of Nutrition Research, NIFES, who will present data from analysing the differences in the nutrient composition in wild and farmed broodstock of cod. She will also present data which show how the nutrient composition of farmed broodstock of cod changes over two years.
Bente Torstensen from the same research programme will present results from the EU project Aquamax. Genes involved in the Atlantic salmon`s energy metabolism and fat transportation are influenced by plant protein and plant oil replacement in the fish feed. Bente Torstensen will show data related to consequences for the Atlantic salmon.
Researcher Marit Espe, also in the Aquaculture Nutrition Research Programme, will show results on a project investigating the effect on Atlantic salmon fed the amino acid methionine in excess. Methionin is necessary for many vital metylation processes in the body.
