As per the press communiqué New Zealand Seafood Industry Council will now have new CEO as Owen Symmans, chief executive of the Council today announced his resignation from the position early in 2010. It is said that Symmans will be dedicating more time to other business interests and after seven exciting and eventful years in the role, is ready to move on.
According to Symmans seafood industry is a vibrant, economically valuable and innovative. It has been a privilege to work with and for the people who make considered and careful use of New Zealand’s seafood resource. He also opined that his tenure has been enjoyable and challenging, and he had gained great satisfaction from leading a dedicated team who achieved a considerable amount for the industry. Dave Sharp, the chairman of the New Zealand Seafood Industry Council said that Symmans would be greatly missed by the seafood industry.
Sharp commented that Symmans has been an extremely dedicated and professional advocate for our industry, bringing an extensive knowledge of New Zealand ‘s primary sector to the role. The New Zealand Seafood Industry Council will commence the process of appointing a new chief executive in the new year.
