One of the most advanced freezer trawlers of its kind has been delivered to Norwegian company Engenes Fiskeriselskap A/S, designed to operate in north Atlantic and Arctic waters.
Designed by Kongsberg Maritime, the 69.90 metre LOA, 16 metre breadth Magne Arvesen has been built by Astilleros Gondán in Spain for its Norwegian customer.
Magne Arvesen is built in steel with aluminium superstructure to an NVC 370 design, and is expected to operate mainly in north Atlantic, Barents Sea and Svalbard waters. With accommodation for a crew of 29, it has a factory deck outfitted by Optimar with lines for producing frozen H&G whitefish and frozen shrimp. Magne Arvesen has a 1400 cubic metre fishroom.
According to the yard, the current Covid-19 situation has presented challenges in completing the new trawler, but careful co-ordination and implementation of safety measures and government guidelines have made it possible to deliver Magne Arvesen, despite these difficulties.
Magne Arvesen is the second Kongsberg-designed trawler to be delivered recently to Norwegian owners by Gondán, following the delivery of Sunderøy last year.
