Now the European fishing industry will be helped by technical information in food and fisheries policy and development. The European Court of Auditors’ has published a report about various functional systems of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) such as the control, inspection and sanction systems.
In the report the Court mention that there are three main types of failure in the CFP catch limitation system such as most of the fish captured reporting go missing, control systems fail to detect and correct these false declarations or fraud, sanction rules in EU states are of variable effectiveness and levels of sanctions are not dissuasive, and at last the regulations, inspections or other actions carried out by the Commission do not help to minimize the weaknesses.
The Court also blamed the EU states for flaws on unsatisfactory implementation. The report also mentions that the current EU states failed to grant the Commission sufficient authority for it to be performed in an effective and timely manner.
