A new 75-metre, 16.50-metre breadth pelagic vessel with a 2425 cubic metre tank capacity is on its way home to Iceland, following the formal handover at the Karstensen yard in Skagen.

Ásgrímur Halldórsson SF-250 is due to arrive in Hornafjörður on Saturday. The new vessel has been built for fishing company Skinney-Thinganes.
Like almost every Karstensen newbuild, this new purser-trawler is built to the yard’s own design, which has been tailored for minimal draught. The 6.50-metre draught is required to cope with the Hornafjörður harbour entrance.
The contracts for sister vessels Ásgrímur Halldórsson and Hákon, which was ordered by Gjögur, were signed at the end of 2021. Although Ásgrímur Halldórsson was originally intended to be delivered first, an agreement was made to switch the completion dates, and for Hákon to be delivered in late 2024.
Both pelagic vessels were built at the Karstensen yard in Poland and brought to Skagen for outfitting.
