Industry & Investment NSW Director Animal Biosecurity, Dr Ian Roth was speaking at a ceremony and praising one of the NSW Government’s highly skilled first response team members graduated from the National Seafood Industry Leadership Program. Industry & Investment NSW (I&I NSW) Strategy Leader Aquatic Biosecurity, Melissa Walker, is one of 17 participants of this year’s program, including prawn fishers, oyster growers and a fisheries management officer, from all over Australia.
According to Dr Roth the program provides a unique opportunity for aspiring young leaders to engage with the wider industry and meet with current industry leaders. He said that every participants are working hard towards a Mission they believe will greatly enhance Australia’s ability to maintain a strong and viable seafood industry.
Ms Walker opined that NSILP 2010 has given me opportunities to network with a wide range of industry members, and take significant steps in leadership learning. She also believes that her participation in this year’s program has strengthened her leadership attributes, and has formed industry linkages that will benefit the seafood industry through her role in Aquatic Biosecurity for I&I NSW.
