Malcolm Morrison is the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation new Fisheries Policy Officer.
Malcolm (48) joins the Federation from Aberdeenshire Council, where he was its Fishing Industry Co-ordinator, working closely with the North Sea Regional Advisory Council and other organisations in helping to develop policy. Prior to that, Malcolm started his career Nephrop fishing out of Stornoway, and since then, over the past 20 years has worked as a fishery officer, fish processor and chandlery salesman, providing him with an all round perspective of the industry.
Malcolm will take a lead role in the delivery of fisheries policy for the Federation, which will influence policy at Scottish, UK and European levels. He will also provide support to a variety of internal and external groups, with a particular focus on those related to inshore fisheries, shellfish fisheries and training.
Bertie Armstrong, SFF chief executive, said: “Malcolm brings a wealth of experience to the Federation and his knowledge from working at all levels of the industry will prove extremely useful.”
Malcolm said: “These are challenging times for Scottish fishing. I am looking forward to working closely with the members of the Federation to develop policy and direction that will help ensure a profitable and sustainable future for our industry.”
