New Daystar for Stephen West, Colin Mitchell and the Westward Fishing Co.
The Daystar was launched from Macduff Shipyards on February 18. 2008, she is a 19 meter twin rig trawler, she will operate from Fraserburgh through Westward Fishing Co, She is built to replace the 21m wooden twin rig trawler Good Design BF151.
The hull was supplied by the MacDuff Shipyards steel works in a kit form to Richards Shipyard in Lowestoft , England , for assembly. All the steel was cut and shaped in MacDuff prior to being shipped by Lorry to the yard.
She features a fully lined insulated and grp coated fish handling area, a first for the Macduff Shipyards.
The layout is conventional and the hull form double chine with bulbous bow and bulbous skeg forward of the propeller. The keel is arranged in box form for ballast
The steel deckhouse is fitted rail-to-rail athwarships and is weather tight. The other of the deckshelter is not weather tight and is constructed of steel aft of the deckhouse and aluminium forward of the deckhouse.
The main engine is a Mitsubishi S6R2 MPTK, 400 kW. @ 1350 RPM.
Reduction gearbox is a Reintjes WAF374 with 6.12:1 ratio, with a 2000 mm. diameter propeller.
