Sea trials are in progress for the new coastal seiner netter/purse seiner Jarle Berg, about to be delivered by Larsnes Mek Verksted to fishing company Jarle Bergs Sønner.
Designed by Skipskompetanse, the 50.70-metre Jarle Berg is built to a SK-3151 design and has a breadth of 12 metres, laid out so that it has a variety of options in terms of handling the catch, with a fresh fish factory on board, as well as facilities for holding live fish in its 499 cubic metre RSW tanks, or iced in tubs to supply the owners’ onshore processing facility in Værøy.
Jarle Berg is arranged with optimised for low emissions, with an innovative hull design, a large propeller powered by a Yanmar 6EY26 main engine via a two-step reduction gearbox, with a variable speed generator and a take me home-solution, backed up with a 1000kWh battery pack.
Accommodation is for a crew of up to 14.
The new vessel is named after Jarle Berg, the father of owners Trond and Børrge Berg.
