Norwegian fishing company Cetus AS has ordered a new pelagic vessel, designed by naval architects Salt Ship Design.
Salt, also responsible for the design of the new Voyager and the latest Gitte Henning, has provided the design of the new pelagic trawler Cetus for Cetus AS, based at Vea in Norway.
The new Cetus will be built at Fitjar Mek Verksted and is scheduled to be delivered in March 2019, with the hull due to arrive in Fitjar in August next year for fitting out.
It will have a 65 metre overall length and a beam of 14 metres. The choice of hardware for Cetus is expected to be finalised during next week’s Nor-Shipping exhibition in Oslo.
The owners have worked closely with the design team at Salt to develop an effective, modern and environmentally friendly vessel, and after the design phase and yard negotiations, the shipbuilding contract was effective on May 24th.
