The owners of Scottish pelagic vessel Sunbeam have gone to Norway for their new vessel, expected to be delivered in late 2025/early 2026.
The 73-metre new vessel for Sunbeam Fishing Ltd has been ordered from Myklebust Verft and will be the yard’s newbuild no 79. The new vessel’s design has gone to Salt Ship Design and this will be a Salt 0364 design.
The current 57-metre Sunbeam FR-487 operated by the Fraserburgh company was built in 1999.
‘This is very pleasing for all of us at Myklebust,’ said the yard’s CEO Kristin Hide.
‘We have been looking forward to bringin in a newbuild to our portfolio of projects, and this will give us greater stability in terms of orders. As part of this project, we have with us a number of local suppliers of both equipment and services from the maritime cluster. This vessel type is part of a fleet sector in which Myklebust has extensive experience, and we are really looking forward to getting started.’
