From January till date the total catch of aquatic biological resources in the Murmansk region made up 596.5 thousand tons; that is 48.7 thousand tons more than during the same period in 2009. The figure shows that in the current financial year in the areas of the North Atlantic, Murmansk enterprises have so far produced: 155.6 thousand tons of cod, 70.9 thousand tons of herring, 64.5 thousand tons of haddock, 51.3 thousand tons of whiting (poutassou), 46.7 thousand tons of capelin, 18.6 thousand tons of mackerel, 16.9 thousand tons of Arctic cod, 11.7 thousand tons of pollack, and 4.8 thousand tons of black halibut.
The period of October 31 to November 06 revealed that the average of 104 vessels out in the fishery (73 out of those are Murmansk companies). Last week, Murmansk companies caught 11,192.5 tons of water biological resources, including: 2,489.6 tons of cod, 874.5 tons of haddock, 1,601.3 tons of herring, 2,237.1 tons of polar cod, 439.8 tons of black halibut.
Murmansk Fishing Port received 7,969 tons of frozen and 549 tons of ice-cooled fish. As of November 6, there were over 25 tons of fish in the main refrigerators of the port. The statistics of November 1, 2010 report that the average retail price for frozen fish in the Murmansk region is 99,51 RUB.
