The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) announced today that Philip Fitzpatrick, who has served as MSC Commercial Director—Americas since July of 2006, has moved to a new half-time employee role as Senior Advisor to the organization. MSC expects to begin recruiting for a new full-time Commercial Director, to be based in the MSC Americas Seattle office, shortly. Until a new Commercial Director is in place, Phil will continue to manage the MSC Americas commercial team, while concentrating more intensively on projects to strengthen the MSC’s commercial program and customer and client experience.
Brad Ack, the Americas Regional Director, said in making this announcement that “Phil has been tireless in his efforts on behalf of the MSC over the past three years, and much of the MSC’s commercial growth in the Americas can be attributed to his hard work, his knowledge of the industry and his extensive contacts throughout the seafood supply chain. We are pleased that Phil remains committed to the future of the MSC program and to the success of our partners who lead the industry in ensuring seafood is sourced from sustainable fisheries. We look forward to continuing to work with Phil in his new role as Senior Advisor, which will still allow access to his expertise and experience, while meeting his wishes to spend more time at his Naples, Florida home.”
During Phil’s tenure as Commercial Director—Americas, the MSC Americas program has grown to include more than 275 processors, specialty seafood distributors, broad line foodservice distributors, major retailers, restaurants and other companies in the North American seafood supply chain. The number of products lines from the region that carry the MSC eco label has reached more than 300. This commercial growth in the U.S. and Canada is part of significant expansion of MSC partnerships worldwide.
