Irish trawler Mark Amay II has been sold to new owners in Iceland. The purchasers are shrimp processing company Dögun hf in Sauðárkrókur who took delivery of the boat last week and it docked in Iceland at the weekend.
Mark Amay II has been renamed it Dagur SK-17 and it is expected to operate on shrimp.
The 27 metre LOA by 8.50 metre beam Dagur was built in Spain in 1998. It is powered by a 3512B Caterpillar main engine, driving a 2400mm diameter variable pitch propeller via a Finnøy reduction gearbox. It has twin Caterpillar 3304 gensets. The trawler was built as a dedicated twin-rigger with three Rapp Ecosse 20 tonne winches, each capable of holding 2500 metres of 22mm warp. Other Rapp gear on board includes a pairs of 7 tonne and 10 tonne sweepline winches and a Pentagon Autotrawl system.
Dagur is fitted out for both fresh and frozen catches, having been refitted for freezing at sea in 2012 with a 20 tonne capacity refrigerated storage capacity and a 700kg per 4 hours freezing capacity. Fresh storage is for 350 boxes and the boat has a 2500kg/day Geneglace icemaker.
