It is informed that Iceland for the first time participating in Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) this year. Katrin Jakobsdottir, Icelandic Minister of Education and Culture, and Katrin Juliusdottir, Minister of Industry, were among the speakers at a press conference at Marel‘s headquarters yesterday to introduce the purpose and program of the GEW.
It is informed that anybody and everybody – individuals, groups, associations, schools, companies, municipalities and institutions – are free to organize and register events as part of the week‘s activities. It is said that each day of the GEW in Iceland will be devoted to a specific theme. This year the themes are entrepreneurship among women, open innovation, Iceland‘s key industries, societal innovation and creative industries.
The Innovit center for innovation and entrepreneurship, which is organizing the GEW program in Iceland, will also organize a number of key events, including an ideas competition among secondary school students, sponsored by Marel. The week will also mark the beginning of the Innovit‘s entrepreneurship competition, The Golden Egg 2010.
