Colin Ng, head of corporate investment of Goldis, informed that the expansion of the export market for its aquaculture products is expected to start after the completion of its new RM10 million integrated fish farm in Tanjung Malim, which offers processing, logistics and conducts research and development.
Colin told that the company aims to complete the facility by end of July this year and hope to see returns on investment next year. He opined that the company started exporting the barramundi, a freshwater fish from Northern Australia, to Canada about four months ago and it is also exported to Singapore. He hoped to start the exporting of ‘jade perch’, a species of freshwater fish popular in Australia.
Colin said Protech Yu was focusing on introducing ‘jade perch’ in the Malaysian market currently and in future hoped to export the fish to other Asian countries such as Singapore, as well as the United States and Europe. Protech Yu chief operating officer Yong Kheng Loong said “jade perch” is having a huge market in Asia and Australia. And based on that the company is looking ahead to further expand its export.
