Faroese company Framherji continues to renew tonnage, having replaced a longliner owned by a partner company with a newer vessel.
The older Stapin owned by Framerji partner company Regn has been replaced with the ex-Husby Senior, bought from Norway and renamed Stapin.
The 42 metre LOA, 9 metre beam longliner was built in Norway at Solstrand Verft in 1990. It has freezing capacity on board, consisting of 345 cubic metres of refrigerated capacity in two holds, plus an 80 cubic metre refrigerated bait store.
The additional capacity allows greater flexibility of operation now that Faroese operators have improved access to distant waters on Flemish Cap, as well as in Greenland and Iceland,
Franherji also appears to be concentrating on the longline business, having acquired the remaining shares in Esturoy, the company operating longliners Maskot and Sigmund.
