With several pair trawlers working together on trips to the fishing grounds, white fish landings increased at the beginning of last week at Peterhead Fish Market Scotland’s premier fishing port when over 9,000 boxes landed for the first two days market and gave buyers a choice more than in recent weeks.
Scottish fisheries have been awarded nearly £11million in European funding, it has been confirmed.
A total of 144 companies are to share the £10.9million grant from the European Fisheries Fund.
The Scottish Government said the funding could protect and create about 3,500 jobs in the fishing industry.
Sandy West and Keith Buchan saw the launch of the new FR253 Virtuous on the 31st of July this year. Virtuous was launched in Whitby, Yorkshire, at Parkol Marine. Parkol Marine started Virtuous in October 2009. Registered to Fraserburgh, Virtuous, LOA 23 meters, is arranged for both single and twin rig trawling.
Less fish was landed in the UK last year (2009). But the value was , according to figures from the Marine Management Organisation.
