On the occasion of the international aquaculture trade show Aqua Sur, to be held in Puerto Montt, Chile, 10-13 October, Faroese equipment suppliers Vónin, KJ Hydraulik and JT Electric have teamed up for a joint promotional effort.

Following the successful certification of the Faroe Islands silver smelt and cod and haddock fishery, today Maresco A/S has entered the Faroe Islands North East Arctic cold water prawn fishery into assessment for MSC certification.

For the last eight years the city of Klaksvík has been the surrounding for the annual Fisherman’s day. The idea of the event is to gather the fishermen and their families and turn spotlight on the fishing industry that means so much to the Faroese community.

The Mackerel fishery in Faroese waters calls for many different tasks. Being more or less exclusively caught by the larger pelagic vessels with 5000 horse power (HP) plus in the past, the Mackerel is now also divided onto the white fish trawlers which usually fish for Saithe, Cod and other similar species.

With the increasing demand for our pelagic fishing gear, Róðin Biskopstø has been appointed as a salesman. Róðin has a degree as a skipper, and has sailed with many fishing vessels such as Skálaberg & Gadus.

The Faroese queen scallop fishery enters full assessment against the MSC standard for sustainable fishing.

The Caplin season in Icelandic zone has reached its end and Icelandic, Faroese and Norwegian vessels have been fishing for the the past two months
