After fifty years with its current owners, a Danish trawler is soon to be replaced by a new vessel ordered from the Karstensens yard in Skagen for the partnership of Thomas Hjort Samuelsen and Karl Arne Nielsen. The new trawler is scheduled to be delivered in June 2020.
There was plenty to see during the recent trip to Hirtshals organised by Hampiðjan which took a group of guests to the North Sea Centre’s flume tank. The highlights included a quad-rig trawl setup for shrimp developed by Cosmos Trawl, part of the Hampiðjan Group.
A group of companies in the Danish port of Thyborøn have been involved in fitting out a new trawler now fishing for whitefish in the North Sea, and which has capacity for industrial fishing during the season.
Thyborøn Skibs & Motor (3XJ) have been contracted as the main supplier for a new trawler/seine netter for local fishermen Hans Jørgen Jensen and Jens Peter Langer, who have opted for a flexible design capable of working trips offshore as well as in coastal waters.
Danish fishing company S107 Skagerak ApS has placed an order for a new 28.05 metre shrimp trawler to be built at Karstensens Skibsværft. The new vessel is part of a merger of two existing operators, and sees a generational shift in the fishing industry taking place as new owners take over a well-established operation.
With the acquisition of UK company Freezertech, Danish fish processing equipment specialist Carsoe is expanding the product portfolio for the food processing industry. Freezertech is a specialist in producing high quality plate freezers, with focus on efficiency and reliability.
Karstensens Skibsværft is set to design and build two new pelagic trawler/purse seiners ordered by Icelandic fishing companies, and the yard has selected Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine to deliver an extensive package of ship equipment to both ships.
30-year old skipper Martin Jørgensen is now in charge on the virtually completely rebuilt Martine L-649, following its major refit at the Karstensens Skibsværft yard in Skagen.
A celebration took place at the weekend at Karstensen in Skagen to mark the completion of the yard’s latest newbuild, an 82 metre LOA, 17.20 metre beam pelagic vessel for the Serene Fishing Company in Shetland.
