Westmann Islands fishing company Vinnslustöðin has sold one of its vessels to owners in Vladivostok.
Kap (ex-Gullberg) has been sold to a Russian fishing company based in Vladivostok. The 52.07 metre LAO Kap was built at the Stálvík yard at Garðabær in Iceland in 1967. It has a 990kW main engine.
The new owners are expected to take delivery of the vessel in the next few days for the long delivery trip, calling at a shipyard in South Korea for a refit and overhaul.
Kap will be fishing pelagic species for its new owners off the coast of Kamchatka in the Sea of Okhotsk, and is expected to operate for half the year, landing both to shore plants and processor vessels.
