In the first quarter of 2008, Iceland exported marine products in the value of ISK 32.4 billion which was 7.4 percent less than in the year-ago period. In terms of Euros, the exports were EUR 320.2 million, down 18.4 percent from year-ago. Conversion into Euros is made on the basis of average purchasing rate for the two periods (ISK 88.99 for 1st Q 2007 and ISK 101.04 for 1st Q 2008). First quarter 2008 exports of main categories, in terms of Icelandic kronur, were as follows:
>> Salted and dried fish: ISK 7135 million, up 4.0 %.
>> Fresh fish: ISK 6269 million, up 1.9 %.
>> Wholefrozen fish: ISK 2910 million, down 29.3 %.
>> Frozen fillets: ISK 9469 million, down 9.9 %.
>> Frozen shrimp: ISK 1901 million, up 51.6 %.
>> Fish meal: ISK 1514 million, down 33.5 %.
