Ålesund company Havbryn, part of Strand Rederiet, has placed an order for a new factory trawler to be built by Vard.
The Vard 8 02 design has proved its worth with Norwegian and Faroese fishing companies, and these vessels incorporate a high level of aurtomation and the latest technology to ensure fuel efficiency and high catch quality. The new vessel for Havbryn will be outfitted for semi-pelagic and demersal fishing operations.
According to Havbryn’s CEO, Astrid L Strand, the newbuild will replace a trawler built for the company in Turkey in 2013, and will measure 69.90 metres with a 15.40 metre beam.
‘It will produce H&G fish and will have fishmeal and fish oil production on board, she said, commenting that Havbryn’s parent company, Strand Rederiet, is one of Norway’s largest family-owned fishing vessel operators.
‘We are pleased to have signed a contract with a local company, which also creates ripple effects for local maritime suppliers,’ Astrid L. Strand said.
